The media could not be loaded. Hey everyone! I’m a real estate and architecture photographer but also do headshots, both indoor and outdoor.Here’s my review of the Godox V100(S)… “S” for Sony. I’m using it primarily with the a7IV and 16-35GM but also with the 24-70GM and 70-200GM.TLDR: I think it’s a great on-camera flash compared to all of the previous versions (of which I own a few) and for a few reasons. Read on for details.First off, the V100s provides 100Ws (Watt Seconds), being a full stop more than other on-camera flashes. This makes it useful for both indoor and outdoor shoots. It’s powered by a high-capacity USB-C charged lithium battery, which is honestly something I’m elated by. No need for a dedicated charger.I love having a very clear touchscreen UI, responsive as my iPhone. I’m not a fan of spinning wheels when I can use a feather light touch and avoid moving my camera in between shots. I also love using the integer power system rather than the fractional system. It’s much easier for me to remember integers than it is to remember fractions.One of the things I love is it’s also a wireless master trigger. This means I can use it as my primary trigger or as a backup for the X3… when the X3 eventually runs out of its internal battery. I personally find myself charging the X3 half way between shoots just so it doesn’t die on me. Godox, please make an X4 with AA batteries. lolThe TTL actually works! Oh. My. Gawd. I’ve never had a flash that provided accurate power in TTL mode. Admittedly, I’ve only had Godox flashes, so this is one reason I’m excited for the new lineup.Color accuracy is great at all powers, very little change in WB across the range.Lastly, I love this flash. It’s the best on-camera flash I’ve ever had. But there are a few potential improvements that could make it even better:* Lack of ⅓ Stop Increments: I imagine this will be resolved in a future firmware update. It’s a glaring omission, especially since the X3 has a setting to change to 10th increments or ⅓ stop increments..* No Physical Switch or Way to Pause From The Standalone Control Page. I often need to turn off my flash to get ambient frames. With Sony cameras there’s no custom button to disable the flash in MASP modes. There’s no physical switch to easily toggle, only a button that needs to be held for 3 seconds. And, the main power setting cannot be long pressed to pause the flash like it can be when used in the transmitter/controller mode.* Lighter Weight Design: This thing is a beast. It’s huge on top of my camera… and heavy. With great power comes great respons-a-lack-of-agility.* Improved Firmware Updates: Godox has made leaps and bounds at making firmware updates easier, especially for Mac users like myself. But I still find it confusing with needing a USB-B to USB-C cable or some other trick.* No Bluetooth Remote Control: Oddly it doesn’t have Bluetooth remote control to use with the Godox iOS app. This is a workaround for pausing my flashes when I can’t touch the camera. I’d love if Godox could work with Sony and/or Camranger on some kind of solution to pause the flash(s) remotely.

As an event photographer, having a long lasting battery really helps my back from carrying less stuff. I went from the Godox v860 to this and I’m happy with the upgrade. It’s close to comparison to the Godox AD 200 with slight less power but that’s to be expected. Definitely a keeper.

I have waited since this first came out to order it because the TTL is supposed to finally work with Sony . How I am severely disappointed on account of the illogical stupidity of the manufacturer. This one comes with a plastic ring installed in the head so that the magnetic attachments can not be used with it. They sent a separate metal ring and a tiny little screwdriver I can't get a grip on. Whoever installed the useless plastic ring installed it so tightly and the screwdriver is so useless that I have only been able to remove one of the 4 screws. So I can't use this flash as I hoped and of course I threw all the parts of the packaging away. Don't buy it.

I have been a long time Godox user and I do own multiple different Godox products, speedlight, strobes, etc. I love how they keep improving! I originally had the V1 but V100 was a huge upgrade. V100 now has the metal shoe mount which is more durable. And also longer lasting battery which now I can directly charge with usb c cable. The fill light additional light was a good idea that is actually useful. The weight is decent not too heavy not too light which makes the product feel more rigid and not cheap. The light refresh rate is fast and the power and light quality is awesome as always. I don’t know what you can ask for more on a speedlight. Love it!

Das Ding ist ein absoluter Gamechanger für meine Shootings!🔥 Runde Sache – im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes!Dank des runden Blitzkopfs sieht das Licht so weich und natürlich aus, dass es fast wirkt, als hätte Mutter Natur persönlich den Diffusor gehalten. Kein störendes Spotlicht, sondern eine gleichmäßige, schmeichelhafte Ausleuchtung – genau das, was ich für meine Porträts und Indoor-Shootings brauche!⚡ Power ohne Ende!Mit der 2600mAh Lithium-Batterie hält der Blitz gefühlt ewig. Ich habe locker ein ganzes Shooting durchgezogen, ohne panisch nach einer Steckdose zu suchen.
