worked for a year and now the counter moves but no video/audio output. I tried various dvds, none worked. Stay away from this one, it will rip you off. Too many other choices to even chance this one. I notice another guy got ripped off the same way.

The first unit was a dud because I couldn't change the remote control code from #1 to something else and the eject button didn't work. I called 220 electronics and they agreed that the unit was defective. The second replacement unit was delivered in two days from Amazon and worked but had the same problem with not being able to change the remote control number from #1. Apparently all 420K's have a remote control that is locked to the control code #1, even though the 420 has control numbers that go up to #6. After a bunch of fiddling around I was able to change the remote code using the remote control from an 820 (that looks exactly the same as the 420). This is important for those who use more than one Panasonic disc player in their home theater. Otherwise, the 420 P works fine in playing BR regions A, B,&C plus DVD's that have codes from #1 to #6. This unit replaced an LG 175 all Region BR player that worked but was clunky to use. One big advantage that the Panasonic players have is that they can play audio on BR's at 1.5X which is useful in listening to commentaries or other bonus features. The LG and Sony players do not allow changes to the remote control number and don't play audio at 1.5X.

This is a great player. PQ is outstanding and it's a nice compliment to a good 4K TV.However, I have the region free mod., so feel I should warn you, it will NOT play every region 2 disk.I have some brand new disks, released through Warner Bros. and they are locked in region 2 andcant be played on this machine.Also, in case they forget to send you the instructions, you need to press the region number on the remoteto put the deck in the correct region mode. For example; if you have a region 2 disk, you need to pressthe #2 button directly after turning the power on. The machine cant figure it out for it's self.EDIT 17Aug16: Ok, I figured out how to play these region 2 disks that were giving me problems (see comments above). I have to use the "tray open/close" button on the remote instead of pressing "play". So, after pressing 2, I open the tray, put the disc in, and press close button. When the tray closes, the machine reads the disc, and goes into the main menu with no problems.I ordered them from Amazon UK. So, it's kind of a gamble. Most region 2 PAL disks play fine though.

Comprei na expectativa do aparelho ser desbloqueado em todas as regiões, porém ele reproduz apenas os discos de blueray perfeitamente. Quanto aos DVDs (região 4 ou ALL) ou aparece a mensagem de que não pode reproduzir a região do disco ou reproduz o vídeo porém o áudio é um ruído. Além desses problemas, não veio junto com o aparelho o cabo HDMI de 1,80m. Gostaria de receber suporte técnico para conseguir reproduzir dvds de todas regiões conforme especificado.

So happy to finally own a region-free blu ray player, especially a 4K one! After upgrading to 4K a few years ago I swore the next time I got a player I'd go region free and bought as many Euro blu rays that interested me.Tested out a bunch of them immediately and was satisfied with the results - big thanks to 220-Electronics, works perfectly out of the box and no complaints! The most impressive quality is definitely the upscaling of BluRays and DVD to 4K, this Panasonic handles it extremely well and its impressive for sure.If anyone's still reading this review, I recommend checking out the Italian crime drama serires 'Gomorrah'. It's an excellent thriller show and I'm so happy to play the Blu Ray I bought back in High School.
