The PMA-1700ne is an end-game, heirloom, integrated amplifier for me. I paired this integrated with a Denon DCD-900ne CD player using Toslink out, a vintage, 45-year-old Denon DP-1200 turntable with Denon DL-103 MC cartridge, a WiiM Pro using coax out, and rounding out the system are the outstanding HECO (hay-co) Aurora 700 tower speakers. This is an incredible system. And the PMA-1700ne is the heart of it all. The PMA-1700ne is so well-built!The looks of this integrated amplifier are on a whole other level of sexiness. The lines on the solid aluminum front panel, the knobs, the OLED display, all make this a true beauty that you won't get tired of looking at.The PMA-1700ne's phono stage is second to none, dead quiet. But the bulk of my listening is using the CD player and the WiiM Pro. As such, the PCM1795 DAC is VERY important in this day and age, and its implementation is superb...it leaves one wanting for not. The analog section is second to none in my opinion. It sounds like what a vintage stereo should sound like with modern dependability. Separation, bass, and treble are tight and controlled, with a large, room-filling, spacious sound that is what I have been searching for!The PMA-1700ne is one beast of an integrated amplifier, to say the least. The weight of 38.8 lbs of the unit tells one that this is a serious piece of equipment that Denon built right. Built in Denon's own factory and not outsourced. The PMA-1700ne is made in the same factory as the PMA-A110 anniversary model. The volume knob feel on this monster is so fricken silky smooth and responsive. I'd rather get out of my chair to adjust the volume than use the remote, it is that nice. The MASSIVE volume knob is made out of solid aluminum, as is the smaller, selector knob, with the balance, bass, and treble knobs also being aluminum. Picking the unit up feels like picking up a small car, the build quality is substantial.Low volume, high volume, it makes no difference to this amp. The sound quality is simply phenomenal! The power at 70 watts/ch is surely a conservative rating as the PMA-1700ne has yet to even come close to breaking a sweat with my usage, even when I get a bit rambunctious at times (much to the dismay of the wife! Hahaha). The sound is as clear as crystal throughout the power range and in my case the only limiting factor is the speakers themselves. The buttery smooth and dare I say, perfect, sound, even when the volume is turned up loud AF, is jaw-droppingly clean and clear.At half of the anniversary flagship PMA-A110 cost, the PMA-1700ne is still a pricey investment (for me anyway). There are features I would like that the PMA-1700ne doesn't have, like, volume knob marking so I can see across the room what position it is at, but that is being nit-picky. The build quality, the sound signature, and the fact that, for me anyway, this is an heirloom piece that will be handed down after I'm gone, does justify the higher price of admission, but if you are patient, these can be found easily enough for a great price. I feel my PMA-1700ne is a worthy investment that with a semi-reasonable amount of care, should last as my 45-year-old turntable has through the years. The 3-year factory warranty (when bought from an authorized seller as Amazon is) is great for peace of mind as well.I can honestly, and without hesitation, recommend this integrated amplifier to anyone serious about musical sound quality.

Amazing amp. Even the built in DAC is outstanding. Great build quality. Solid and heavy. Sound is wonderful. Not muddy or lacking treble in any way. Don't know where that BS came from but Denon amps are equally balanced from top to bottom. I also own the PMA-800NE and that amp sounds almost as good as this one. With a pair of good speakers not crammed in corners and against walls, you'll be rewarded with excellent sound.

I purchased on a random Amazon price reduction, making a fair value and worth trying for me since I already have the PMA-1600ne. The changes to 1700 are full isolation on DAC, preamp input for home theater integration, change of MM/MC control to front panel, digital display changed to OLED, some changes to capacitors used and a change to a digital volume control trickled down from the higher model PMA-110. This Unit has a slight sense of increased transparency over the 1600, but really not by much. The DAC is good enough to satisfy, the phono is good and headphone amp all good as well making this a great all-round product. I moved to it from a Yamaha AS-3000 that was 3 times more money and no DAC, the 1700 does not leave me longing for better performance. Be patient as it does respond to a fairly long break in period. if you already have 1600ne, don't expect huge differences, it's a great amp too. If buying new, if the 1600 is a lot cheaper I would buy it instead. They are both 5 stars to me, at the prices I paid

great amplifier with enough power to drive my 4-ohm KEF R3 meta speakers. it has all the digital and analog connections including mm and mc phono inputs. built quality is excellent and it's a pretty heavy unit at 39 lbs. it does get a little warm so allow space for air to circulate around the unit. no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth so you will need a separate streamer like the eversolo dmp-a6 master edition for your digital music and apple airplay.a couple of negatives, it would have been nice if there was a light or some kind of indicator on the volume knob so you can see what the level is at, and the banana plugs don't push all the way in the speaker terminals.the worst part of this experience is the amazon delivery. the amp was delayed and on the day of delivery, it got pushed back 5 different time slots. c'mon amazon this shouldn't happen especially when you have to work and then reschedule your day because you can't leave a high value product sitting at your front door.

“Punches above its weight” is a term All too often used in stereos. That’s because there’s A LOT of overpriced units, inflated in price due to paid for reviews, name brand, and perceived geographical origins. (Although ultimately made in China, which can be great (or not))Well thanks to them, this unit is a steal of a deal. What an amazing sounding amp and dac.It replaced my Yamaha as-801 and topping E30 dac. At first running my b&w 703 S2, I was amazed at the detail and bass definition. But the treble seemed a bit sharp at times. Needed by rhye was shocking to hear her voice whistle under the words and the air blow through her vocal cords. I played around with speaker placement and although previously didn’t believe in amp or dac “burn in”. The sharps treble has naturalized. Keeping in mind I also have what most people describe as a sharp sounding speaker as well.The bass has also filled in, as at first it was defined in a new way, but a touch lite. Could be speaker placement again.Symbols in take five - Dave brubeck sound insanely real. Mirah’s voice just hangs in the Center as she sings and whispers to me, seemingly live. Instant crush by daft punk hits with surprising authority. I’ve heard new throaty sounds from Jeff buckley in hallelujah.This amp sounds amazing at low and normal listening levels. Maybe it sounds good loud too, I don’t know or care. I’m 37, and want to enjoy music into old age. I average about 85db in my seat, 10 ft away in a large room.I’ve heard most of the brands selling products in this range. Some 4 letter, 5 star amps, at the same price, designed on a different island, report “getting hot” at normal use, and qc issues. This does not.I highly recommend this amp to anyone into great sound. I think I’ll be keeping it through at least 2 speaker upgrades. I would happily drive speakers costing many times the price of this amp with this amp, and with Covid prices, in fact I do just that now.
