I use some portable programs on my external drives, and accessing them via this dock began to cause freezes and hangups after only 5 months, to the point where the PC (Windows 11) couldn't even restart or shutoff, and I had to do hard resets. I tested another dock which did not have the issue, so the issue is isolated to this drive bay. It seems that after a short time some internal components of this bay begin to fail.

The Orico 5 Bay Docking Station (6656C3) is a great product if you just use it for cloning or know beforehand that you won't have issues with JMS576 for disconnections in PC mode.Feature set is great, it has rubber pads that alleviate vibration noise from the drives, layout offers no problem with overheating and the provided cables are great, with the power unit being external with plenty of cable length to allow for easy installation and the USB-C cable with USB-A adaptor is a fantastic addition, allowing this dock to work on any setup basically.This would have been the best docking station ever if it was not for the chipset. It runs under JMS576 which dates back to 2016 (almost a decade old) and is known for disconnections as it doesn't support all new USB capabilities. I can't attest for the firmware version on it as I ran it on a Mac and there are no flashing tools available from JMicron or Orico, however, within a few hours of use I had several disconnects, while other docking stations I have with ASMedia chipset works just fine.Orico, if you read this, please, update the chipset or at least reach out to JMicron and figure a better firmware that won't disconnect. I would suggest switching chipsets but that is a much bigger ordeal.Alas, this product will be returned.

Mac mini2018で使用してみました。性能面は良好です。ライトは小さいので見えにくさがあります。気になった点としてパソコン連動で起動するときピーというような音が鳴ります。高音ですこし大きい音量なので耳につきます。音を消すスイッチもないのでこの点は好き嫌いがありそうです。

前のタイプより使いやすい。

前バージョンは使用中でも再起動がかかるくらい頻繁に電源が自動で勝手に切れたけど、このバージョンはそれが無くてストレスなく使えてます。16TBも認識してくれてとても使い勝手もいい。
