Just received it yesterday and put it to use with our 2011 MacBook Pro. It is well built, and came packaged nicely. It operates as advertised. It can be a little difficult to get the cover, but the 2.5 hard disk installed easily. The USB 3.0 (type A) connector is backward compatible to the USB 2.0 on our MacBook Pro, but the connection is slow because the USB 2.0 is slow. The Ugreen hard disk enclosure appears to be a good value for its price. I will likely buy another one if needed.

What type of external hard drive does this hard drive enclosure support?
It supports 7mm/9.5mm thick external HDD and SSD.(Note:The package does not contain HDD)
Does this 2.5" HDD enclosure require tools and driver software installation?
No. It's plug-and-play and tool-free, simplifying data storage and transfer.
How does this 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure USB 3.0 achieve 5Gbps transmission speed?
It can transfer data at up to 5Gbps when connected to a USB 3.0 port by supporting UASP and TRIM protocols.
For 7mm hard disk, it is necessary to add the additional EVA pad between the hard drive and the enclosure.
Check that the connection between the data cable, the product and the computer is good.
The new hard disk must be partitioned and formatted for the first time, otherwise the computer will not be able to recognise the drive letter.
Check that the system supports large capacity hard drives. WinXP 32-bit systems do not support hard drives larger than 2T.
Confirm that the hard drive format matches the hard drive format supported by the system. If they are inconsistent, please format the HDD to a HDD format supported by the system: Windows supports NTFS/exFAT/FAT32, Linux and MacOS support exFAT.

This adapter is amazing! It's made of plastic but feels really strong and closes securely. The USB 3.0 is fast and works perfectly. I'm very happy with it; I revived the 2.5" HDD from my old laptop.I was torn between the aluminum ones and this one, but for $7, this is definitely worth it. If you're going to spend $25 on the aluminum one, just buy a new HDD.

I have bought a handful of these over the years and they all work flawlessly. The tool less design is simple and the enclosure feels sturdy when closed. Has recognized all the drives I have tried inside both SSD and HDD, and the transfer speeds seem stable.I have since tried some other UGREEN products too and they have all been solid choices as well.

Lo compre para rescatar la información de un DD externo que al interior traía un 2.5 sataLa instalación fue plug & play, solo tuve que colocar un pezado de foamy del case anterior para que no quedara juego ya que el disco es de 7 mm , se ve sencillo pero de humana calidad y la pc lo reconoció al instante.Pars abrirlo solo necesitas deslizar la tapa, no se requieren herramientas para la instalación
