its not a bad idea and is useful at times. However, not all of my rods will fit. Some rods I have are just a bit too large or just small enough to fit. Meaning, its more of a struggle to get the rod in and out of the holster than it is being a convenience.Also, the holster is fixed to the belt so you cannot change the orientation or location distance from the buckle.

The belt is exactly as advertised with one exception, the slot gor the rod handle only accommodates small to medium diameter rod handles. Aside from this one fact, I think this belt will serve my needs just fine.

This is a nice rod holder with a great belt. I would have liked to see a few more moveable D-rings on the belt to hang a net or hook remover from. The only fault I noticed is the rod holder allows the rod tip to lean fairly low so you have to watch out when you kneel down. On shores with a close bank, the rod tip can hit the ground. I may try to add a spacer so the rod holder holds the rod tip higher. I does hold you fishing rod and gives you both hands to work with.
