I've had 2 and 3 quart Calphalon saucier pans for many years but all of my bigger pots have short loop handles and straight corners. I really like the curved side to bottom and a handle that doesn't get too hot and is easy to lift with one hand. Granted, it's not light weight, especially full of food so it probably wouldn't seem as good if I didn't have the hand and arm strength. It cooks very well, cleans up easily, and looks so good besides. I hope it lasts the rest of my life.

I've had 2 and 3 quart Calphalon saucier pans for many years but all of my bigger pots have short loop handles and straight corners. I have long been a big fan of Calphalon pots and pans and already owned a few. But I didn’t have one quite like this little 2.5-quart sauce pan. It’s the perfect little size and I have found that I use it often. It’s like a cross between a sauce pot and a stir-frying pan because it has this great rounded shape on the inside that makes it really easy to stir sauces, gravies, or puddings without food getting stuck in any corners. It’s also perfect for a can of soup or heating up leftovers. There are so many uses for a pot of this size and design.It’s a nice heavy little pot made with that sturdy Calphalon quality. It’s constructed of high-quality 5-ply 18/10 stainless steel with an aluminum core that heats up quickly. It’s beautifully made and so shiny and smooth. When the pan is pre-heated and a little oil or butter is added, it is nicely non-stick without any dangerous Teflon or any chemical coatings. It has a long handle and a well-fitting lid with a handle. I love that I can use it on my glass stovetop as well as pop it into the oven when needed.It’s dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash it. It cleans up like a breeze, and a little Barkeeper’s Friend can be added to scrub it up easily. A little spray of half water/half vinegar and a microfiber towel will clean off water spots and make the outside stainless steel look like new again. This is the kind of quality little pot you just buy once and have for a lifetime. Totally worth it!

This is the highest quality pot I have ever laid hands on. It is very very thick and heats up (evenly) very quickly. You can tell it is super high quality. I have used it a few times and can really tell the difference compared to using lower quality pots. The lid is heavy and sturdy, too. The handle is thick steel so this can obviously go into the oven, no problem, just make sure to use a pot holder when taking it out! Now I want to replace all my cookware for this fancy, chef-grade stuff....Photo includes details of "Premier" option (on left)

This stainless steel 2.5-qt sauce pan has quickly become one of my favorites and having the right tool for the job makes all the difference when cooking. Did you know that the original founder of Calphalon was the inventor of hard-anodized aluminum cookware? Their cookware gained a following with professional chefs and now home chefs. Our family is slowly getting rid of all non-stick coated pans and replacing them with stainless steel pots and pans. Making an investment like that is well worth the cost and good quality stainless steel cookware will easily last a lifetime. Right up there with my cast iron pan!What I love about this sauce pan is the size (8" diameter) and shape of the curved walls. Its rounded bottom helps create silky sauces, risottos, and my favorite, gravy. The curved shape allows for consistent stirring without clumping in the corners, like you can get with a stock pan. The wall of the pan is about 3.25" high, which is shallower than a stock pot, but taller than a sauté pan. This allows your sauces to concentrate and become richer, faster because the sauce pan helps facilitate evaporation when doing a sauce reduction. I can't believe it's taken me this long to get a sauce pan. Of course, this also makes a great pan for making soup or stews for 1-2 people. It's very versatile and because it's stainless steel, it's durable and reliable.The Calphalon Turbo Temp Technology with the aluminum core provides even heat distribution across the bottom of the pan and it's designed to heat up quicker, which is wonderful because my cooking surface is an electric cooktop and it's hard to be patient when heating up a pan. But over the years, I've learned that this was due to my lack of technique and understanding of how to cook with stainless steel pans. It's important to let the pan heat up first. A cold pan is what causes food to stick. With heat, oil, and patience, most food will release from the pan with little effort and you'll wonder why we so enamored with non-stick pans. Cleaning is very easy too. I highly recommend using Bar Keepers Friend to clean your stainless steel pots and pans.The handle is nice and long, so it's easy to maneuver and control. The quality is apparent, from the nearly 3.5 lbs weight of the pan and lid to the rivets and fit of the handle and lid. This is comparable in quality and performance to well known brands like All-Clad, Made In, and Cuisinart.I always take time to read reviews before making a purchase on Amazon, and I hope this review helps you make an informed decision. This is a super quality pan! It is HEAVY! It seems to heat water to boiling faster than my other saucepans. It has layers of aluminum between the layers of steel that conduct the heat very well. The lid fits nicely. This is the type of pan that will be around for a lifetime so even though it is more expensive than other pans it is still a good value. The handle is longer than most. The sides are not super tall which make it versatile. It can be used for anything you'd cook in a saucepan, but it can also be used for frying an egg or steaming vegetables. I love that it is made of stainless steel and that it does not have a nonstick coating. We are trying to move away from anything with nonstick. It is also awesome that it can be used in the oven up to 500°. It can be used to bake a small loaf of sourdough. Very impressed with this pan!
