Other than its default being in japanese, this is a good player for what it is. Once you get the language changed, the setup is easy. This fits nearly anywhere and the picture quality is good.
To change the language on your GEC BDP-G2805 Blu-ray player to English, navigate to the Setup menu, then find the "OSD Language" or "Display Language" option and select "English"

First, the directions are in Japanese. Then, when I connect it to my TV, it wants me to change the source resolution. I can't do that if I can't read the directions, and even if I could, the TV won't let me see the Blu-ray player settings screen, so it doesn't matter.

I returned it to you and got a prompt refund. Subsequently through Amazon I ordered a blue ray DVD player from Sony and had it hooked up in 10 minutes. It plays the DVDs beautifully.
