I was ready to give this 5 stars but 1 of the 3 I bought at same time has already died (won't spin/read any discs) just 3 weeks in with moderate use. Yes they are used quite a bit with discs running a few hours a day but I expect more from them even refurbished and especially being Sony brand. We don't use any of the "smart" features of these beyond inserting a tiny thumb drive with a few MP4 videos to have on-hand for the kids even if no discs are in that room. So technically we could continue to use it for streaming & videos from the thumb drive but returned the defective one to amazon which they were great as always. Btw I almost removed a star because all 3 had the outdated firmware with the parental control bug (look it up. it locks the tray & won't allow you to eject) which I found surprising considering it's such a well known issue. How could Sony refurb these & NOT update the firmware? I was unable to get it to update "live" via wifi so I downloaded it on my computer & saved to thumb drive which was a breeze even doing all 3 using same stick. So yeah I didn't dock a star but that was surprising & disappointing of Sony. (Side note: maybe Sony didn't refurb these in which case whoever did should have updated the firmware especially for such a nasty bug)

This is the second cheap BD player I've tried, and it plays several movies that previous players had trouble with, so points for that. Separate HDMI & coax audio made wiring much simpler for my system.Streaming support for Netflix, Amazon, etc. is hit or miss, mostly miss. Interface is very slow & locks up a lot. Streaming apps often crash with an "application too large" error message.DLNA playback supports more files than the other players including MKV, but still lots of stuff including older AVI's that won't play.All told, it'll serve as a BD player, but it's not replacing my several years old Roku player which is still much faster & more reliable for streaming.

No complaints. I bought this so my wife can play her P90X DVDs for her workouts. I chose this model because of its small size and no-frills cost. It works fine for playing physical media. Don't buy this for the apps. It's no substitute for a Roku or other streaming player. Just use it as a DVD/Blu-Ray player and you should be fine. The refurbished model was at least $20 less than a new one if I recall correctly. This particular model has wi-fi and in hindsight I see no reason to pay more for that.

The first refurbished Sony Blu Ray player did not work at all. The return was made seamlessly at the UPS Store. The replacement came within a few days. It looks like a new one and is working like one too. Thanks Amazon. I always have a great experience with your company.

Worked great. WiFi setup was effortless. Great video quality. Very easy to get my TV code programmed into the remote. As a bonus, I prefer buying certified factory refurbished items. Not only is the price point usually more attractive, but to my way of thinking since a human has tested the device, there is less likelihood of a random production failure showing up.

This is my 3rd Sony Blu-ray player. Sony is very user friendly & easy to set up. This is my first wireless set up, but no problems with setting up the wireless capability. My first Sony Blu Ray is over 10 years old & still working fine.
