Timely delivery. There were no missing parts. I transferred over 2,000 slides and had no problems. The picture quality is very good. Some reviews stated that picture quality was not as expected. Picture quality varies from quality of the slides, conditions of slides, how the slides were stored and the camera used. I am very pleased with my purchase and recommend it. Very easy to use. Also I transferred around 1,000 slides in two afternoons.

Hp Filmscan is a very easy to use.The touch screen makes controlling the scanner very easy. Adjusting the quality of your slides or negatives is simple. Putting on a slide show by displaying the pictures on your tv is simple. Plug in the cord, touch the screen for starting it up and it's there on your tv.It's a little spendy, but the ease of use and simple controls makes it worth it.Get one and get those old slides and negatives out and enjoy them.

First, keep in mind that this is not a professional, high resolution scanner. But if you have several thousand 35 slides that you want to scan, it works great. Here's my review after scanning about 450 slides.1. It's very fast. I scan about 30 slides at a time, and it takes a few minutes. Basically, you push a new slide into the scanner, and it pushes out the previous slide.2. You can set the date & time for when the photo was taken, and it gets added as metadata. My old slides have the year and month stamped on the holder (old Kodak processing), and so I take a batch with the same month and year (I ignore the day and time), and scan them.3. The scanner has settings for color balance and light/dark images; I never use them unless the slide is very dark.4. As others have noted, you need an SD card. You don't even need to be hooked up to a computer when scanning; you can stick the SD card in your computer afterwards. (I have a MacBook Air, and I plugged a USB-C cable from the laptop to the scanner. This powers the scanner, and when I am done I press the "USB upload" button. That lets the MacBook see the SD card.)5. I do cropping and basic editing/color correction in Apple Photos. Sometimes I run them through Topaz Photo which does a great job of sharpening and noise reduction.6. Note that if your slide is out of focus, poorly exposed, or faded, your scan will look even worse.That's about it. It works. I had a Plustek scanner with Silverfast software, and the combination was very slow and cumbersome. If you want a better scan, you can step up to a digital camera with a macro lens, light source and holder.

Easy to use and produces great results. Resolution of digital files is quite good. I should mention that SD cards larger than 128GB will not work (learned that the hard way).

I originally rated this a 2 due to the item not being delivered during the expedited shipping window we paid extra for. To the vendor's credit they then refunded the extra shipping cost plus some goodwill compensation!One thing to be aware of is the earliest you can date stamp your scans in 1980, this is limiting as the purpose is to scan old slides and negatives. The result is you to then have to go and rename the scans after upload.

I have found this quite useful for preserving old family slides and negatives. It was a little bit fiddly until I figured it out as I am not tech oriented. I did not find the color adjustments very useful. Slides were easy to slide thru. I still have hundreds of slides to go and this is an affordable option for doing it
