The media could not be loaded. I tested both the optical out and the phono (headphone) out. They both worked great. Connecting the input via Bluetooth was easy. It is really small and that is a nice feature for integrating it into hobbies. It also has a rechargeable battery if that suits your project. This is great for projects like turning old wooden radios into modern speakers or anytime you want to connect your phone to an amplifier without using a wire. It is a wonderful small device. The reason I rated this four stars is because of the cost as well as features that I do not find useful (that run up the cost). For example, the devices only input is Bluetooth. This limits the sound quality and an optical output is therefore not useful in my opinion. The optical output is now transferring data that has already gone through lower quality Bluetooth. I have the same issue with the DAC. My phones built in DAC is sufficient if I am using Bluetooth quality - in fact it is impossible to turn off my phones DAC if I transmit on Bluetooth - so the DAC becomes redundant. This means this item is only a Bluetooth connector. And this item is cheap for a DAC but since the DAC is redundant it is only a Bluetooth connector for anything I plan to do with it. Making it an expensive Bluetooth connector. The same holds true for the rechargeable battery. I plan to use it wired and the rechargeable battery only adds to the cost and probably a higher risk of buzzing sounds.

its a good bluetooth adaptor, but there is no on and off switch. When you un pair your device the unit goes to pairing mode and the blue light blinks constantly, thats annoying.

Add Bluetooth audio capability to things that do not already have it using a cable on this receiver. In case someone is unclear what this receiver does.The receiver is sitting on a cd for scale, this thing is TINY! It’s also AMAZING for my use case: I have an ancient powered PA mixer and a pair of 2x12” cabs with horns and now I have one of the world’s oldest, loudest, and least portable Bluetooth speakers. Specifically, I can practice any instrument I want without having to destroy a modern Bluetooth speaker as comfortable background music level is at or below about 10% of the system’s volume. So you can send music from your phone through your amp, pa, or surround system without integrated Bluetooth. If you’re a “my house has in-wall and in-ceiling speakers but not a Bluetooth capable receiver” kind of person, plug this in, run what you’ve got, and save some money.For the price of the current JBL boombox speaker, you could buy a powered mixer with a pair of 10’s or 12’s and this receiver all NEW! There are pawn shops and music stores FULL of crazy good amps and speakers for comparatively cheap and this little receiver makes them Bluetooth compatible; that’s why this receiver is exciting TO ME. With that statement made, I also confess that I love old, overkill audio equipment and I chalk up outdated appearances, kludgy setup, and finicky controls as part of the charm.For churches, meeting spaces, djs, etc. 👍 There are: 3.5mm, single RCA coax (one, not a pair of channels like the ubiquitous red and white cables, one of those type of cables, red or white), and a TOSLINK optical output, a power button, a tiny antenna for Bluetooth, and a usb C power input. It’s really simple to use and picking which connector to use is the hardest part, it chooses output automagically, I mean finding a cable is more difficult. I believe there’s a battery in the receiver because it surprised me by blinking when I poked the button out of the box but the battery isn’t something critical for me but it may be useful for someone’s use case. Bluetooth range is as good as anything else Bluetooth I own, I can literally put my phone 50’ away at the opposite end of the house and quality is unaffected. The housing is a brushed gray or possibly steel-blueish and if it doesn’t suit your aesthetic tastes, hide it, it’s small enough.I won’t argue that this receiver is for everyone, obviously if your system doesn’t have any inputs, this isn’t going to fix that. Personally, this is EXACTLY the type of thing I love. I can run the gear I already own, bring it up to modern capability, and I don’t have to spend a boatload to replace something that’s already working fine. If you’re frequently setting up and tearing down PA systems, troubleshooting problems, or something like that, this gives you the ability to just put music on instead of having someone else stand there saying “Test 1,2,3” anything but that!
