The Viltrox 25/1.7 has been a great everyday lens on my X-H2S, especially for personal life and travel photography. It’s lightweight, compact, and balances nicely on the camera. The autofocus is fast and quiet, great for both photos and casual video from what I’m seeing so far.Image quality is sharp in the center, especially when stopped down slightly, and the build feels solid despite being part of Viltrox’s budget-friendly “Air” series. It doesn’t have an aperture ring, which took some getting used to, but overall it’s a fantastic value lens that punches above its price

I bought the Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 primarily for photography, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. While the lens looks appealing on paper—especially with the fast f/1.7 aperture—the real-world performance falls short for stills.The biggest issue is autofocus reliability and consistency, particularly when shooting wide open at f/1.7, which is arguably the main reason anyone would buy this lens. The depth of field at this aperture is very shallow, but the lens struggles to lock focus accurately. Any moving subject almost always ends up blurry, and even with stationary subjects, keeping focus sharp is hit-or-miss. No matter how steady you hold the camera, the results are often soft or unusable.For photography, this becomes frustrating very quickly. You’re forced to stop down to get acceptable sharpness and focus accuracy, which defeats the purpose of having an f/1.7 lens in the first place.That said, for video, the lens is somewhat usable—especially for indoor shooting where you benefit from the extra light. Continuous autofocus is more forgiving in video, and minor focus misses are less noticeable compared to still images. If you’re shooting talking heads or relatively static scenes indoors, it can be “okay.”Summary:❌ Not recommended for photography⚠️ Autofocus and focus accuracy are poor at f/1.7❌ Moving subjects are consistently blurry✅ Acceptable for indoor video use onlyOverall, if your main goal is photography or taking advantage of a fast aperture, I wouldn’t recommend this lens. There are better options in this price range that deliver more reliable autofocus and sharper results where it matters most.

Not for full frame! Yes full frame can use it, but you will also lose mp when switched to aps-c mode. Just wished it was stated.

So far I have been pretty pleased with this lens. The middle of the frame is very sharp when stepped down to about 2.8. At 1.7 it's a bit soft, but not super noticeable until you get around the edges. The vignetting is manageable and not too prominent. It fits on my camera very well and I haven't had any issues with controling the lens through the camera. I've also used it a fair amount for video more than my other lenses since the AF motor is a fair bit quietter than my other lenses. Overall this lens is great quality, lightweight, portable, and accurate.

Good choice for videos and dark environment photos.

Excellent. Sharp photos, you see the diference with 2.8mm lens immediately. I have an a7RV. It is like 32.5mm equivalent.

Great lens for great price! Easy to use and amazing for the price. I was going to buy a lens from Sony but I saw a video on YouTube that recommended this viltrox and it is worth it. I will buy more from this brand soon.

Fast and quiet autofocus, sharp with good colours

This Viltrox 25mm F1.7 XF lens is a great value for your Fujifilm camera. I paired it with my X-M5 and couldn't be happier with the performance and image quality I'm getting from this lens. I was expecting compromises with this lens considering the low price point for a fast prime. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality, fast and quiet auto focus and sharp and contrasty photos I'm getting. The lens does support eye and subject detection and the internal focus motor is very quiet. While the lens is light, it is noticeably bigger than the XC 15-45mm kit lens that came with my X-M5, which is not a deal breaker for me but if you're wanting a more low profile lens, there are the 27mm primes from Fujifilm and TTArtisan. However, those lenses have a F2.8 aperture, so the low light ability of this Viltrox is much better.When examining photos taken with this lens, I find the sharpness is very good especially in centre and even when aperture is wide open. With the shallow depth of field, you can take nice portait shots and good looking bokeh. Video performance was average with auto focus being slow but there was little focus breathing that I encoutered. Overall, this Viltrox 25mm F1.7 is a great prime lens to get if you need a fast prime with versatile focal length and that won't break the bank. Highly recommended.

Good, inexpensive lens, small, light perfect on Sony A6400. This is my second Viltrox lens, they are good value for the money. Will buy another for my Nikon ZFC.
