Der V480 stellt für mich ein Sweetspot in der Produkt-Palette von GODOX dar, auch, aber nicht nur, weil er extrem gut das Konzept der klassischen "Speed-Lights" in die Moderne überträgt.Wer eben erwähnte Blitz-Form bereits kennt und ausgiebig in der Vergangenheit genutzt hat, wird sich hier wie zu Hause fühlen und zu schätzen wissen, dass die bewährten und wichtigsten Elemente nicht über Board geworfen werden. Der Lampenkopf ist in klassischer Form, neig- und schwenkbar, mit fühlbaren und sicheren Arretierungen und sogar der herausziehbare Diffusor ist wieder mit dabei, inklusive des weißen Plastikkärtchens, welches ich noch nie wirklich ernst nehmen konnte. Hier wäre ein Upgrade in Sachen Material dann eben doch mal endlich wünschenswert.In der Verpackung befindet sich noch ein weißer Aufsatz-Diffusor, sehr schön. Ebenso der obligatorische Standfuß, aus Plastik, der Akku, ein Power-Adapter und ein USB-Kabel, sowie eine Tasche von gewohnt guter Qualität.Wir haben einen wechselbaren Akku, aber leider ist es wieder ein eigenes neues Format. Zum Laden gibt es einen USB-C-Anschluss direkt am Akku, das ist toll. Der USB-C-Anschluss am Blitz selbst hätte aber ruhig eine Gummi-Kappe spendiert bekommen dürfen.Angesichts der geringeren Größe und des guten Gewichts begeistert die Leistung. Maximaler Output und Recycling-Time lassen kaum Wünsche offen, vergleicht man das mit den großen von früher, dann merkt man wie viel sich hier wirklich getan hat. Das Arbeiten macht Spaß, der Blitz ist zuverlässig. Erwähnenswert ist auch das Model-Light, welche tatsächlich gerade genug Output produzieren kann um nützlich zu sein.Das Highlight der neuen Generation an GODOX-Blitzen ist aber eigentlich das Bedienkonzept. Überwiegend über den großen, gut aufgelösten, sowie kontrastreichen und hellen Touchscreen, bedient man hier das Nötigste. Die Menü-Struktur ist minimalistisch und schnell erfasst. Verschachtelt und versteckt ist hier gar nichts, alles ist innerhalb von Sekunden gefunden und eingestellt. Ein Handbuch braucht hier niemand, und letztlich muss ich zugeben, dass auch nicht wirklich mehr Tasten notwendig sind. Das Drehrad inklusive Bestätigungs-Knopf und die zwei weiteren Knöpfe reichen einfach. Auf dem Touchscreen passiert der Rest.Das Konzept und die Menü-Struktur wird man so ähnlich ohnehin schon von anderen GODOX-Produkten kennen, hier bleibt man sich treu. Kennt man einen, kann man auch die anderen bedienen.Der V480 lässt sich des Weiteren als Trigger für alle System-Blitze benutzen, oder eben auch von einem weiteren Trigger auslösen. In der kleinen Kamera-Tasche kann man sich so den Trigger sparen und einfach einen zweiten Blitz benutzen, einen zweiten V480 oder einen iT30Pro beispielsweise.Notfalls darf man auch klassische Blitze optisch triggern. TTL und HSS werden ohnehin unterstützt, aber das muss ja eigentlich nicht mehr wirklich erwähnt werden. Funktionieren tut das alles bestens, schon mit Firmware 1.00.Als jemand der die Reduzierung auf Touchscreens bei dedizierten Geräten gern etwas skeptisch sieht, muss ich eingestehen, dass GODOX den Dreh raus hat und die neue Generation an Blitzen einfach Spaß macht.Am V480 gefällt mir besonders, dass er relativ kompakt und leicht bleibt, aber dabei keine Kompromisse in Sachen Power und Ausstattung eingeht. Er ist vielleicht derzeit der optimale On-Camera-Blitz, mit dem man für jede Gelegenheit einen Joker in der Hand hat.Und der zweite oder dritte passt immer noch locker in den Kamera-Rucksack, oder mit der beiliegenden Tasche an den Gürtel.

I bought the Godox V480 flash for my Sony thinking, “Cool, I’ll finally take photos that don’t look like they were shot in a dimly lit basement.” What I didn’t expect was to harness the raw power of a miniature supernova strapped to my camera.First use: I turned it on, hit test fire, and immediately startled my dog, my wife, and possibly a passing satellite. The recycle time is so fast I swear it’s taunting me: “Is that all you’ve got, Jason? Again. AGAIN.” My Sony camera now thinks it’s in a Marvel movie.The build quality? Solid. If someone broke into my house, I could use this thing as a blunt weapon. The hot shoe mount feels like it could survive a fall from a third-story window, though my pride definitely wouldn’t.The menu system… well, let’s just say I had to Google “How not to feel dumb using Godox flash.” It’s not bad, but at one point I accidentally set it to stroboscopic mode and basically held my own personal rave in the living room. My toddler was impressed. My wife was not.Battery life: ridiculous. I charged it once, and I’m convinced it could power Las Vegas for a weekend. By the time it dies, Sony will probably have released another six camera bodies.Real talk—the V480 takes my photos from “Wow, you have a nice phone” to “Wait, are you working for National Geographic now?” Skin tones look great, shadows are crisp, and it makes me look like I know what I’m doing. A fantastic small flash that is surprisingly powerful and works so well with the touchscreen and off camera remote. Highly recommend for any photographer looking to get a slightly smaller flash than the v1 series but still wants to have enough power to be useful for events, etc. love the small battery that has a usb-c port built in for easy charging.
